Walmart Import Distribution Center

This $220 million import distribution center for Walmart is a 3M SF storage and cross-dock facility at the new Ridgeville Industrial Campus and is the latest sign of the ever-growing dominance of the omni-channel retail space. Approximately 1,000 new jobs will be created for Dorchester County upon completion.

Walmart awarded Caddell the Construction Manager at Risk
(CM@R) contract, and preconstruction services began immediately. Through a highly collaborative process with the client and design team, Caddell provided budgeting, value engineering, cost analysis, schedule evaluation and constructability reviews.

The agreement on a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) came just before ground breaking, and project mobilization began shortly thereafter. The construction phase is expected to complete in 14 months.

Our new direct import distribution center for Walmart marks the first of many major retailers to take advantage of the expanding capabilities of the South Carolina Port Authority in their efforts to secure the position as the leading port on the East Coast.

The prime location will supply several regional distribution centers, supporting approximately 850 Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs across South Carolina and beyond.
