Our Work

Nuclear Power Training Facility

Project Scope

Caddell was responsible for the new construction of two multi-story, blast hardened, training operation and support buildings, a single story secured area entry point building, a security checkpoint entrance with guard shack, and a berthing pier extension to support the Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet. The scope of work also included installation of new water treatment, filtration and processing, and redundant mechanical and electrical systems. The project was performed in phases to keep all mission critical facilities fully operational.

Client

Naval Facilities Engineering Command

“Safety performance was first class and we observed that Caddell placed a very high priority on site safety and health. …The site was located in the middle of a busy college campus and effective safety protections and precautions were critical.”

- John Chesnut, Senior Field Coordinator Construction Office of the University of Alabama

“You can be very proud of what your team accomplished.”

- Gary Pemberton, Project Engineer, USACE, Kansas City District

“Pull Planning saved our schedule and gave us a practical way forward. This intense interaction with the subs also identified some schedule busting elements that the design documents had missed. We not only met our original schedule completion date, but finished critical activities early and ended the project with an official “Outstanding” performance rating in all categories— including scheduling.”

- Jeremy Clegg, Caddell Project Manager

“The Contractor’s project team was comprised of qualified individuals and their communication and early identification of issues led to early resolution on many items. All in all it was a very enjoyable project team to get to be apart of.”

- Aaron Sundberg, Construction Manager, NAVFAC Hawaii

“This project is a shining example that a project performed in a true spirit of partnering can produce a quality facility”

- Ms. Donna Lamb, GSA Contracting Officer

“I wanted to commend your project team for a job very well done.  I have had the privilege of designing numerous exchange and commissary facilities and would count this project as among the best managed and organized of my career.”

- Terry Lee, AIA, Project Architect of Record / Breckenridge Group

“I have been serving the Savannah District’s Fort Bragg office since 2000 and would rate this project among the best of my career.”

- Karl A. Gabzdyl, Resident Engineer, USACE / Fort Bragg Office

“Navigating extreme logistical challenges, a multi-national workforce, and an ever-evolving security environment were all uniquely amplified in this project, all while working on an active post whose critical mission could not be interrupted. The Caddell team did all of this and achieved the project’s objectives. Congratulations on a job well done!”

- Chrissie Fields, Department of State Contracting Officer
