Cooling Towers for Aircraft Testing Facility

Project Scope

Caddell performed design and construction of a new process water cooling system at an Air Force testing facility. The enhanced 12-cell 300,000 gpm process water cooling complex features massive 40-ft. fans, dozens of 30-inch valves, specialized pumps, intricate piping, complex hydraulics, and state-of-the-art electrical/instrumentation systems. The new cooling towers (each with four cells) we designed to be constructed over an existing basin to significantly increase cooling capacity without modifying the basin structure itself using a unique flared tower design. Caddell also added a completely new basin and cooling tower unit. To regulate the cooling operations, Caddell installed a state-of-the-art control system that also manages the water system for the entire base. All modifications and new construction were brought on-line without interruption to the base’s critical testing activities.
