Our Work

TEDAC Phase 1

Project Scope

Caddell was responsible for the construction of a new complex for use by the FBI. The project included multiple buildings on two sites: 1-story laboratory building, 1-story shipping and receiving building, and a 1-story vehicle inspection canopy and guard booth. Scope included the complete construction of a 1-story synthesis and testing building, an outdoor range, personnel and equipment bunkers, and a vehicle shed. Site development included hardscape, landscaping, perimeter security fence, and surface parking for both sites.

In the Main Laboratory, scientists, engineers, and technicians use established and novel forensic techniques to provide expedient actionable scientific and technical information to TEDAC’s integrated intelligence resources. TEDAC’s raw and finished intelligence products provide information on device attributes, terrorist tactics, techniques, and procedures which enhance their knowledge and understanding of current and future threats. The lab’s forensic and technical analysis provides domestic and foreign law enforcement and judicial systems the evidence needed to identify and bring justice to those who plan, construct, and place IEDs.

The 65,000 SF Laboratory Building exhibits state-of-the-art laboratory design and engineering technology and provides stringent control and monitoring of environmental pollutants such as dust, airborne microbes, aerosol particles, and chemical vapors. The various laboratory environments and computer and equipment support spaces are also sustained by sophisticated temperature and humidity control systems that ensure constant optimal conditions for critical laboratory testing operations.
