Project Scope
Caddell was responsible for the construction of a three-story administrative office building totaling approximately 334,000 SF that provides administrative office space to accommodate 1,200 employees. The project includes numerous and varied functionalities, including offices, data centers, fitness center, secure areas, vault-type areas and rooms, sound transmission prevention, tamper resistant construction, antiterrorism, and blast prevention design. As this complex serves as the headquarters for the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration, critical systems are fully redundant with N+1 availability.
This project was designed and built to meet USGBC LEED Gold but achieved Platinum. The structure features rooftop solar panels designed to generate 200 kilowatts of energy for the facility, and the building orientation is designed to minimize western exposure and, consequently, reduce its energy load.
