E-Commerce Fulfillment Center
Caddell’s project in Lancaster, TX is one of four groundbreaking, high-tech “next generation” fulfillment centers that represent a major investment in automation by our client on the project. This massive state-of-the-art fulfillment center features a new “patent-pending process powered by the combination of people, robotics and machine learning,” according to a company press release. Once completed, Lancaster and the other three new fulfillment centers could provide 75 percent of the U.S. population with next- or two-day shipping from the client.
Caddell’s scope includes preconstruction services and the construction of the e-commerce fulfillment center that has a 1.5 million SF footprint and an additional one million SF of mezzanine levels. The 2.5 million SF facility also includes an Automated Storage Retrieval System (ASRS), large parking lots for both employee parking and semi-truck parking, two pedestrian bridges, two guard houses, two fuel stations, a pump house, trailer staging, maneuvering space, and out buildings. The project accommodates a 1 million SF footprint building expansion as well as expansion of trailer staging and parking areas. The structure includes precast walls with insulated metal panels and is scheduled to be complete in 2023.
