Caddell Construction is expanding its commitment to Ohio with a new corporate office in Columbus, creating a dedicated home for the company’s growing regional operations and a workplace designed to attract, develop and retain top talent.
Though they are formally launching their first corporate office in the state, the company is not new to Ohio — their first job in the state dates back to 1989. Located in Grandview Yard, the office reflects Caddell’s people-first culture and long-term investment in a market that has become increasingly important to the company’s growth. The space was thoughtfully designed to support collaboration, employee development and family life, creating an environment where employees, clients and community partners feel equally welcome.
The move comes as Caddell continues to experience significant growth across Ohio and the Midwest, driven by increasing demand for mission-critical, advanced manufacturing, education and complex commercial projects.
“Columbus is a market where our people have already built a tremendous foundation,” said Mac Caddell, president and CEO of Caddell Construction. “The work is here. The talent is here. The opportunities are here. This office is an investment in the men and women who have helped us grow throughout the region and in the workforce that will help us build what’s next as we work toward the long-term success of our employees, clients and strategic partners.”
The Columbus office will be led by Vice President Justin Spafford, a construction industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience managing complex projects across multiple verticals, including healthcare, higher education, mission critical, advanced manufacturing and more. A strong leader with proven ability to build strong relationships, he will oversee Caddell’s continued growth in Ohio and help recruit and develop the next generation of construction professionals.
“At Caddell, we often say ‘Our people are our greatest asset,’ and that’s absolutely the truth. That’s why we’re building this office around our people, both those who are already here and those who will join us in the years ahead,” said Spafford. “Columbus continues to attract investment, innovation and opportunity. We wanted to create a workplace where talented people can see themselves building a career that matters for their long-term success. As the construction market continues to evolve, we believe the best projects are delivered by empowered teams with strong local relationships and a shared commitment to excellence and true collective success.”
That philosophy is reflected throughout the office. Common gathering spaces are positioned at the front of the building to create a welcoming atmosphere for employees, visitors and clients. Flexible collaboration areas, employee amenities and family-friendly features reinforce a culture that values both professional and personal well-being.

The expansion is supported by Caddell construction executive and longtime Columbus construction leader Bob Cunningham, whose roots in the region span decades. A graduate of Columbus State Community College, Cunningham has spent his career advancing the local business economy. He has helped deliver some of Central Ohio’s most significant mission-critical projects from the client side for some of the world’s largest data center companies. Since joining Caddell in early 2025, he has mentored high-functioning teams as they continue to deliver successful hyperscale data center projects in Dublin, Hilliard and Marysville.
Cunningham believes the region’s workforce is one of its greatest strengths.
“Nobody builds operating facilities in the Midwest like Midwesterners,” Cunningham said. “People here are hardworking, intelligent and take pride in their craft. That’s why we’re excited about the future. The talent pool is exceptional, and the opportunities ahead are tremendous as investment continues to flow into advanced manufacturing, data centers, education and beyond. The team we’ve built here is really remarkable— a team full of people who are focused, energized, hungry, have had good leadership and are committed to collective success for all involved.”
Caddell expects Ohio’s growth trajectory to continue as investments in technology, manufacturing and higher education reshape the region’s economy. The company is actively recruiting experienced professionals as well as emerging talent from institutions including The Ohio State University, Bowling Green State University and Columbus State Community College.
Committed to the long-term success of the region, the Caddell team has made a positive impact in the local community. They sponsored a contest among different project teams during the holidays to raise funds for the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, where individual donations were bolstered by a gift from the company’s nationwide giving committee. They support Seeds of Caring, a nonprofit that empowers kids to build a kinder community through service.
The team also makes an impact through the Associated General Contractors of Ohio, Associated Builders and Contractors of Central Ohio, and the Ohio chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals, as well as through workforce development and educational opportunities in local schools.
“Caddell has been engrained in the community long before this grand opening of our corporate office. We’re not chasing projects or fleeting trends,” Cunningham said. “We’re building a company around people and relationships. Our clients want partners who understand their business and care about their communities, and our employees want opportunities to grow with a company that values them. Columbus offers both.”
Caddell’s expansion builds on a global portfolio exceeding $24 billion in completed construction projects spanning commercial, governmental, educational, mission-critical, manufacturing and international markets. Approximately 96 percent of the company’s work comes from repeat clients, reflecting the company’s reputation for delivering complex projects and long-term strategic partnerships.
“Our mission is simple: constructing what matters,” Caddell said. “That means creating opportunities for our employees, delivering exceptional results for our clients and investing in communities where we see long-term potential.”
