Project Scope
Caddell was responsible for a new 179,000 SF Courthouse Annex, including a new Central Utility Plant, located adjacent to the existing courthouse facility. Project scope included a large five-story glass atrium, one special proceedings courtroom, eight district courtrooms, three magistrate courtrooms, twelve judicial chambers, sallyports, detention cells, joint use space, and a 24,000 SF indoor parking facility. This two-phased project also included renovation/modernization of the existing occupied courthouse. The Courthouse Annex features a large five-story glass atrium that boasts limestone walls with a granite baseboard, terrazzo floors, a curved steel and glass grand stairway, green marble accent walls, cherry wood paneling, and a massive steel and glass curtain wall. Courtrooms feature similar materials and superior millwork. The project took place in the middle of the downtown business district and was challenged by a very confined and congested location. Additionally, the existing courthouse, located adjacent to the new facility, was occupied by hundreds of court employees throughout the project.
