Project Scope
Caddell performed renovations and upgrades to the existing 1932 building that forms part of the Frank M. Johnson Jr. Courthouse complex. The historic building was totally refurbished including extensive mechanical, electrical, structural, and interior modifications. Existing foundations were upgraded to support an interstitial mechanical area between the first and second floors. The project also included the addition of new stairwells, two new elevators and shafts, a complete overhaul of three existing elevators, and installation of sophisticated communications and security systems. The exterior limestone and architectural decorations were cleaned and the clay tile roof restored. All of the building’s fine interior finishes were restored or replaced including ornamental bronze railings, elaborate millwork, stone carvings, and wall and floor coverings
