Maximum Security FCI

Project Scope

Construction of a maximum-security prison with a total area of 427,000 SF. The facility included 558 cells along with extensive medical, administration, cafeteria, and dental areas. Structural features included insulated pre-cast wall panels on the exterior walls, CMU on the interior walls, and foundations consisting of caissons supporting grade beams spanned with pre-cast T’s. The federal prison complex in Florence is one of the nation’s largest and includes an Administrative Maximum security facility, or “Supermax.” The facility is the only federal Supermax in the United States, built to house the nation’s most violent prisoners.
