Our Work

Commissary Architectural & Refrigeration Upgrades

Project Scope

Caddell’s challenge at the Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) Commissary was to perform a total $8.2M architectural and refrigeration upgrade at an existing operating facility to be completed in just 382 days while customers continued to shop uninterrupted and unimpeded seven days per week. Mission accomplished. In fact, the store reported more sales during construction than at any other period in its operation. Close coordination with the store management was combined with a detailed phasing plan. This plan successfully protected and isolated shoppers from the work, including constant reconfiguration of temporary barriers and meticulous noise and dust control.

- Gary Pemberton, Project Engineer, USACE, Kansas City District

“Navigating extreme logistical challenges, a multi-national workforce, and an ever-evolving security environment were all uniquely amplified in this project, all while working on an active post whose critical mission could not be interrupted. The Caddell team did all of this and achieved the project’s objectives. Congratulations on a job well done!”

- Chrissie Fields, Department of State Contracting Officer

“Safety performance was first class and we observed that Caddell placed a very high priority on site safety and health. …The site was located in the middle of a busy college campus and effective safety protections and precautions were critical.”

- John Chesnut, Senior Field Coordinator Construction Office of the University of Alabama

“The Contractor’s project team was comprised of qualified individuals and their communication and early identification of issues led to early resolution on many items. All in all it was a very enjoyable project team to get to be apart of.”

- Aaron Sundberg, Construction Manager, NAVFAC Hawaii

“I wanted to commend your project team for a job very well done.  I have had the privilege of designing numerous exchange and commissary facilities and would count this project as among the best managed and organized of my career.”

“Pull Planning saved our schedule and gave us a practical way forward. This intense interaction with the subs also identified some schedule busting elements that the design documents had missed. We not only met our original schedule completion date, but finished critical activities early and ended the project with an official “Outstanding” performance rating in all categories— including scheduling.”

- Jeremy Clegg, Caddell Project Manager
