Job Title – Attorney

Location Montgomery, AL, on-site

What You Will Do

In this role, you will provide legal advice as needed for day-to-day business operations, engage and act as a liaison to outside counsel as required, as support the company’s litigation efforts. You'll do this by:

  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating legal agreements and documents, including owner contracts, subcontracts, settlement agreements, company policies and procedures, employment agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Performing legal research and offering legal advice to project teams regarding relevant laws and regulations affecting the company business in order to inform business decisions and mitigate risk.
  • Reviewing, drafting, and editing correspondence with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and other third parties.
  • Coordinating with outside counsel to assist the company in the preparation, pursuit, and defense of claims in arbitration, mediation, litigation, investigations and other matters.
  • Coordinating and managing responses to document discovery and to other document requests, reviewing documents and preparing them to be produced in accordance with applicable policies, rules, and regulations.

Working Conditions – Office setting with work generally performed in a controlled indoor environment; sometime required to work in a warehouse or on jobsites with little or no climate control in hot or cold environments; walking, standing, sitting, keyboarding, writing and reading; some travel may be required, position is full time

Reporting Structure This position reports to the Chief Legal Officer

 

What We Expect

Education / Experience – Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and four years of experience in the practice of law required. Undergraduate courses with a focus on construction or engineering preferred. Experience in construction, contract, and/or employment law, also preferred.

Certifications/Licenses Current Alabama Bar Law license required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Knowledge of basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft software – Excel, Microsoft Word and Access. Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language. Ability to perform legal research and have the skills of a licensed lawyer.

While the salary range is typically between $100,000 – $150,000 annually, applicants are encouraged to share compensation expectations as part of the application process.
